Appeal for Indonesian Citizens Concerning the Spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19)
As of 27 February 2020, there were 478 reported cases of COVID-19 in 17 European countries (Italy - 100, Germany - 21, France - 17, Spain - 12, UK - 9, Croatia - 3, Austria - 2, Russia - 2, Finland - 2, Sweden - 2, Israel -2, Switzerland, Greece, Georgia, Norway, North Macedonia and Belgium 1 case each). Until that date, there were no reported cases of COVID-19 in the territory of Ukraine and the Republic of Armenia. However, the Consulate General of Ukraine in Naples, Italy has confirmed one case of COVID-19 affecting Ukrainian citizens.
The Ukrainian authorities have imposed standard procedures for checking body temperature on people entering Ukraine, both at airports and at entry points for Ukraine, especially on the western border. This is because the western regions of Ukraine such as Lviv, Chernivtsi, and the Trans-Carpathian, are areas that are frequently entered by visitors from Italy.
On February 26, 2020, the Government of Georgia announced that one of its citizens had tested positive for COVID-19, after he returned from Iran via Azerbaijan.
In this regard, and considering the rapid and massive spread of COVID-19, the Indonesian Embassy in Kyiv urges all Indonesian citizens in Ukraine, Georgia and the Republic of Armenia to always be vigilant and follow the directions of local authorities. This applies to both living and visiting Indonesian citizens.
